Websites have come to stay and will continue to grow as the internet remains and they are powered by Various Web hosting. The Internet can still be tagged a new invention relatively but it has practically changed our lives and birthed so many industries hence creating jobs like no other invention before it. It has also improved communication and integration especially in third world countries like Nigeria

Website Design

This is one of the many industries that have created millions of Jobs as a lot more people are becoming website designers due to its high demand. The process of building these websites have also evolved with time from writing HTML, CSS, PHP, JavaScript codes which seem more difficult to simpler technologies like WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc. These technologies are known as CMS (Custom Management Systems) because it basically gives you a user-friendly interface where you can build your website with just the click of buttons without necessarily knowing how to write codes.

WordPress Websites

WordPress is undoubtedly the most popular CMS system for building websites as about 40% of all the estimated 1.5 Billion websites on the Internet today. It is completely free to download and use but of course, you have to purchase a Web Hosting service to be able to use WordPress which is why we will be looking at which web hosting is best for WordPress.

A very common misconception about WordPress is that a lot of people consider it to be unsafe because it is opensource, others say it is only good for blogs but this is obviously not true as a lot of big names such as whiteHouse.gov, Playstation, Obama Foundation, and so many other big names and sensitive organizations run their websites on WordPress.

WordPress functions are super easy to understand and it comes with a host of resources which include Plugins, Tools, themes, etc that aids in building beautiful and mindblowing websites with almost any functionality you can imagine.

WordPress Hosting

A lot if not all web hosting companies do support WordPress but some perform much better in terms of speed, Up-time, Customer Support, Pricing Etc. I have been a web developer since 2006 but in 2009 I transitioned to WordPress after I found Joomla and Drupal not user-friendly.

Over the years, I have a lot of these hosting companies including Bluehost WordPress Hosting, SiteGround WordPress Hosting, Godaddy WordPress Hosting, SmartWeb WordPress Hosting and Hostgator and from my personal experience, I will be showing you guys which i think is the best WordPress hosting and why.

GoDaddy WordPress Web Hosting

I am sure you have heard about Godaddy before, they are so popular that once you think about buying a domain and hosting for your website, it comes to mind. The company has invested heavily in the type of marketing we call Positioning which basically is an approach where you constantly put your product in the face of people s much that it becomes a household name. They have been around since 1997 and the company has focused a lot infrastructure and user experience which makes it easy for people to choose a domain, confirm availability, sign up for a hosting account and start building their website using either the custom Godaddy website builder or install WordPress. They also offer a very seamless upgrading process so you can easily upgrade your plan as your business grows but the truth is that almost all the other web hosting platforms offer something similar.

My Take On Godaddy’s WordPress Hosting

Personally, I think GoDaddy leaves a lot to be desired when it comes to speed and customer support, I bought the Deluxe Plan for my WordPress websites and sincerely I believe GoDaddy is a powerhouse when domains are concerned not Web Hosting. Their customer support sucks as I had to always make an international call to reach them.

Their Online chat system is almost never available which was the major reason I moved to SiteGround. I asked a Godaddy’s support staff on the phone why their chat system never works and he said that their customers prefer phone calls, Well, I am obviously not one of those customers… are you?

SiteGround WordPress Hosting

SiteGround which was founded in 2004, has grown into one of the biggest names in the web hosting space. It is one of the 3 recommended web hosting companies on WordPress’ official website.

With offices in 6 different locations and data centers scattered in 3 continents, it is needless to say that they have invested heavily in infrastructure just like GoDaddy. Their customer service is on another level, very responsive and promptly, of course, there is an online chat interface that connects you to a customer support staff almost immediately. Their WordPress optimized web hosting service provides everything you need to build a successful WordPress based website or blog. Little wonder why WordPress recommends them.

My Take on SiteGround’s WordPress Hosting

I had to move my WordPress websites to SiteGrounds upon recommendation from a friend for the reasons i mentioned earlier and it was the best decision ever. The team as soon as i made contact helped me through the sign up process and even migrated over 20 websites i have with godaddy to SiteGround completely free.

They also offered me free SSL Certificate on all my domains at no extra cost and of course, there was a great improvement on the speed of my website.

SiteGround, however, has a higher renewal rate and limited storage, Yes LIMITED STORAGE, I bought the GrowBig Plan which is supposed to host unlimited websites but that wasn’t really the case.

After setting up a couple more website on the supposedly unlimited hosting, I got a notification that my Inode has been exceeded, this automatically put all my websites offline.

An inode is a record in a disk table, which contains information about a file or folder such as its size, owner, device node, socket, pipe, etc., except data content and file name. The number of inodes on your account equals the number of files and folders you have on it.

BlueHost WordPress Hosting

Bluehost is one of the Hosting companies Recommended by WordPress. According to WordPress.org, Bluehost offers a WordPress Centric interface with 1-click WordPress installations, Free Domain, emails and backed by in-house WordPress experts providing 24/7 support. Since its inception in 2003, The company has grown in leap and bounds to the extent that it currently hosts over 2 million domains.

Like Godaddy and SiteGround, they have invested heavily in infrastructure. Bluehost is actually owned by Endurance International Group, This company owns Hostgator, IPage and other web hosting and domain companies but Bluehost is WordPress focused. Bluehost is undoubtedly the number 1 recommended web hosting for WordPress.

Bluehost’s WordPress Hosting Promises

Automatic WordPress Installation

Automatic WordPress Updates

Microsoft Office 365 available

Secure Configuration of Login Credentials

Free Domain Name for 1 Year

WordPress Staging Environment

My Take on Bluehost’s WordPress Hosting

I have been on Bluehost for a while now where I currently have two WordPress websites. The interface is very basic and their customer support has been awesome. The interface is not very similar to others hence it took me a minute to get familiar with the dashboard. Most plans include unlimited disk storage, domain hosting, email addresses, and bandwidth.

Most plans on Bluehost comes with unlimited disk storage, free domain excellent hosting, Free SSL Certificate, email addresses, and bandwidth. Their security is flat out excellent, with support for almost all the databases you can think of. If you can afford it, i will advise you to go for BlueHost.

Bluehost, however, is considered expensive as the price tag of $3.95 applies when you are paying for 36 months. Paying for a year, the price increases to about $5.95 for the basic plan and so on

I consider Bluehost the best WordPress web hosting company out there because it is specifically designed with WordPress in mind. They might not necessarily be the cheapest but it is completely reliable anytime any day.
